Montessa titanium wheel spindles
To go with the 7075 alloy Montessa wheel spindles i’ve also done a set of titanium ones, these are all going to that most excellence chap Mark at H&D Racing! The alloy ones don’t actually take much less time than the titanium ones, largely because i’m limited by the speed at which i can run the lathe. Above 550 rpm it tends to creep across the room, one day i’ll get round to bolting it down! so they are turned at about the same speed and feed rate, what is quicker is drilling them, but even so you have to take it really easy with the alloy ones otherwise the drill will run off, so i drill it like titanium, in 1mm and out again, x 230!
