Eyeball update

Last week I had what I hope will be the last operation on my eye. They’ve taken out the old plastic lens so I’m now lensless! I shouldn’t be away from the machines for long (don’t tell my doctor but I’m just going to nip into the workshop and finish a job I didn’t quite get done last week), but its not the sort of thing you can rush.

So far this year work has been very difficult to manage and keep going for various physical reasons, but now the old eye has reached a conclusion I can look forward to mending and getting back on track with the jobs that are still waiting to be done as well as manage the new work coming in. It will be really nice only to have my dog impact on the amount of time I have on the machines rather than it be limited by physical injury and side effects of medication.

bloody hell Pete , obviously not looked at your beautiful work for a while , not sure what happened with your eye injury , but I sure hope you get sorted . many many ti 64 junkies are out there , saving up for there next fix ( well ,bespoke hand crafted spindle , bolt etc etc) and you need that eagle eye to deliver them goods, I sincerely hope you are on the mend and able to get back to full fitness and continue your passion in making us the parts you do .

Thanks Dean, I found out yesterday that my cornea is not repairing as it should, i’m back on drops for a month, if that doesn’t work i’ll be referred for a graft glueing on. must admit i’m getting tired of having my eyeball poked about with and cut into, i’ll be glad when its all mended and i can just be a normal person!

Nah i was chopping kindling to light the fire! wasn’t wearing specs, i’ve been chopping wood for the fire for 40 years, now it decides to do something different and get me. I already had a glass lens in that eye from when i twatted it 20 years ago, splatting it with a piece of wood sent the old lens out the side of my eyeball tiddly wink fashion! only it slipped back in again as it was stitched in place, but not before punching a hole that i was catching jelly out of. its not affecting my quality of work, just the speed at which i do it.

so remember kids: always wear protection!

morning mate, well the simplest little things you do daily and take for granted as being safe can turn around and bite you ( or poke you in your case ) ok on already having an old injury , that I’m sure doesn’t help, well it’s good to hear you can still work , and well if it’s a little slower than usual we will just have to wait a little longer for our goodies ! I hope you have managed to get a bit more done on that manky guzzi In between enjoying the dog walks and a bit of recuperation . wish you all the best Pete
              cheers
