Yamaha R1M titanium bolts and nuts

These titanium bolts and nuts are for a new 2015 Yamaha R1M. This is the first time i’ve made ‘trick’ nuts with the flats scalloped out, don’t know why i haven’t before because i’m capable. What i wasn’t capable of doing was drill down the points of the nuts ‘Gilles’ style, i could do the drilling of course but i have no way of finding the centre of each point other than by eye, and on something like this a hole would only have to be a few thou off centre to be noticable, so i bottled it!

The M12 bolts have an M6 tapping down the head end, this is for a crash protection cover, me, i’d try not to crash it!

The customer they are for turns out to be as pleasantly obsessed with weight saving and perfection as i am! Like me, he notices if a bolt is 2mm too long and it irritates him, so far he has replaced 287 bolts on is bike with more to go, all because the manufacturer hasn’t paid enough attention to detail, on a brand new top of the range bike. I suppose they have to draw the line somewhere for profit/economy but surely the people who make their bolts would make them to the size they ask for, so why ask for them to be too long or too chunky? If I was producing a flagship model i’d make some effort to bolt it together with nice fitting fasteners.
